A deshedding treatment is a bath-and-blowout service designed to remove loose undercoat from double-coated breeds — cutting down dramatically on the fur around your home.
Typical cost
Expect $20–$60 as an add-on to a bath or groom, or $60–$100+ as a standalone service for large, heavy-coated breeds. Price scales with the dog's size and how much undercoat there is to remove.
What's included
A deshedding treatment usually means a bath with a deshedding shampoo and conditioner, a high-velocity blow-out to loosen dead undercoat, and thorough brushing with an undercoat rake. The goal is to pull out the loose fur before it ends up on your floors and furniture.
Which dogs benefit
Double-coated breeds get the most out of it: Huskies, Golden Retrievers, German Shepherds, Australian Shepherds, Corgis, and similar. It's especially worth booking during the twice-yearly "coat blow" in spring and fall.
How often
Every 6–10 weeks for most double coats, with extra sessions during heavy shedding season. Note that deshedding is not shaving — double coats should never be shaved down.
